Dozens of children’s shoes are lined up along the wall. They were collected along a one-kilometre stretch of beach on the Greek island of Rhodes, facing Turkey.
Damaged and worn down by walking, sometimes repaired with a simple nail, and battered by the sea, some still bear the marks left by the small feet that once wore them.
All that remains of the children who wore these shoes is this silent testimony.
