Imprint of a road in Greece, on the island of Rhodes
These faults are imprints of a road: damaged, cracked and worn. The road begins in my father’s village and ends at the sea.
As a child, my father and others worked hard to carve this road into the mountainside, sometimes barefoot, under a scorching sun.
It is a continuation of the path taken by migrants travelling along this road to reach Europe, and by my father, who left to join the mainland.
Laid on the ground, it evokes a border, a separation, a rupture.
